The "Lockout tagout" system adds a "hard insurance" to safe production
Recently, Cangxi County, Sichuan Province, issued the "Implementation Plan for the Promotion of the 'Lockout tagout' Safety Management System for Mechanical Equipment in Production and
Business Operations Units throughout the County", and held a county-wide
promotion meeting to comprehensively deploy the scope, tasks and
requirements of the system's implementation, aiming to establish a
long-term safety management mechanism and ensure the safety of
employees' lives and property.
The core of "Lockout tagout" is to implement energy isolation, lock and hang warning signs during
equipment inspection and maintenance to prevent accidents caused by
misoperation. The county has formulated a unified system template and
implemented the "seven-step operation method" : Accurately identify the
energy source → shut down the machinery → Isolate the machine → Place
the Lockout tagout device → release the stored energy → verify isolation
→ unlock the locking device. Strictly follow the principles of "who
operates, who locks, who unlocks" and "one person, one lock". It is
strictly prohibited for multiple people to share the lock to ensure that
the operator independently controls their own safety.
At
the training site, over 70 enterprise managers learned the application
scenarios and locking methods of five types of locks through
demonstrations, simulated operations and case analyses. They also
practiced the locking process of key parts such as power isolation
cabinets and pneumatic valves, and proficiently mastered the
identification of hazardous energy sources and the filling of
nameplates. The person in charge of the county's safety office stated
that in the next step, they will carry out special supervision and
inspection, set a deadline for enterprises that fail to implement the
system to rectify, and promote the transformation from "safety is
imposed on me" to "I want safety".
